The beaver keeps building.
Cold water. Late hours. Whatever the bank provides. One small decision after another, until something holds.

Just keep building. Be the beaver.
Two things gave this practice its name. Sandstone, which keeps a record of every flood that ever came through it. And the beaver, which does not argue with the water. It goes and finds the next stick.

The beaver is not offended when the river rises or the dam breaks. It adapts. Currents shift. Banks move. What looked permanent changes. So the beaver works with what is there and keeps building. A capacity for chaos means learning to work with what comes. You need the next stick.

Some days placing another stick means making the hard phone call. Some days it means resting, or asking for help, or choosing kindness when cynicism would be so much easier. Some days it just means getting out of bed. Building looks different every season, and it still counts on the small days.
